Quick Hits: Florence + The Machine, Bruno Mars, Mary J. Blige & Michael Buble, Dead Sara, Judas Priest, The Who, Primus
July 20, 2012

Florence Welch
Though she suffered a vocal cord injury last week, Florence Welch took the stage at Good Morning America on Wednesday to perform her new single, "Spectrum," as well as "Shake It Out." She also explained that she is now fully recovered from injury. Welch said she had a week of rest and she had to give up caffeine during the healing. "I had a full check-up, and [the doctor] said that there wasn't any permanent damage that couldn't be restored without rest," she stated. "So if I keep taking care of myself there won't be any reoccurrences." The band's tour continues tonight in Burnaby, BC.

Producer/songwriter Benny Blanco has been working with Bruno Mars on his next album. It's unclear whether the Mars album is anywhere near completion, but Blanco told Rolling Stone that they wrote a cool piano-laced track together. "Me and [writer/producer] Paul [Epworth] just got together and Bruno wrote an amazing song on top of it. It kind of all came together," Blanco said. "It's like some throwback Nina Simone type shit, like 'Sinnerman.' It's Bruno. He can sing the A.B.C.'s and you'd be like, 'Holy f**k!' He knows how to vibe."

Crooners Mary J. Blige and Michael Buble have signed on as advisors on NBC's The Voice for the upcoming fall season. Blige will be an advising mentor for Adam Levine's team, confirmed to The Hollywood Reporter, and Buble will work with Blake Shelton's team. As mentors, both Blige and Buble will meet with contestants and give them tips before their performances. NBC has yet to announce the mentors for Cee Lo Green and Christina Aguilera's teams. The third season of The Voice premieres on September 10.

Dead Sara has announced a new North American tour with The Offspring, kicking off August 31 in Detroit, with Neon Trees slated to join the tour beginning September 6 in Boston. To further support the recent release of Dead Sara's self-titled debut album, the band has also added some U.S. and festival dates through the summer and into the fall, including the Sunset Strip Music Festival in Los Angeles, Riot Fest in Chicago and the Epicenter Festival in Irvine, CA.

In 1982, Judas Priest released their eighth studio album, Screaming For Vengeance, containing the hit "You’ve Got Another Thing Coming." To celebrate the 30-year anniversary of the release, Judas Priest will release Screaming For Vengeance – Special 30th Anniversary Edition, containing not only the re-mastered original album plus bonus tracks, but also a live DVD from the US Festival, filmed in San Bernadino, CA on May 29, 1983. Bonus tracks on the CD include live versions of "Electric Eye," "Screaming For Vengeance" and more from a 1982 show in San Antonio.

If you happen to still have a ticket to a canceled Who concert from 1979 in Providence, then you are in luck. Those tickets will be honored when the band returns to the city on February 26, 2013. The Who's 1979 concert in Providence was canceled by then-Mayor Buddy Cianci, who cited safety concerns. The band hasn't been to Providence since, but they will return to the same venue where the original show was canceled, now called the Dunkin Donuts Center. General Manager Lawrence Lepore went on WPRO-AM and said the venue will honor tickets from the canceled 1979 show and ticketholders can call his office to make the exchange. Any 1979 tickets redeemed will be donated to help raise money for the Special Olympics of Rhode Island.

Primus will embark on a unique 3D tour this fall, featuring two sets per evening. The traveling 3D-enhanced live musical performance will also feature Quad Surround Sound. Primus will announce more details and full tour dates on Monday, July 30.
