CBS Radio Flipping Dave FM/Atlanta To Sports This Fall
July 31, 2012
CBS Radio announces it will flip Triple A WZGC (Dave FM)/Atlanta to Sports some time this fall. CBS-Atlanta GM Rick Caffrey announced the flip in a memo to staffers this morning. WZGC will become "Sports Radio 92.9FM." Terry Foxx, who was most recently PD of KDKA (The Fan)/Pittsburgh, will be PD of the new Atlanta station.
In his memo, Caffrey wrote, "We have an exciting opportunity to reach a considerable group of listeners who are extremely passionate when it comes to our area sports teams, and we're looking forward to creating a station with its own unique personality highlighted by expert analysis and opinions, coupled with the right mix of entertainment, and audience interaction. Sports Radio 92.9 will have a long roster of personalities including names familiar in sports and pop culture, as well as significant contributions from the everyday sports fan."
Caffrey added that before the changeover to Sports, "we remain focused on delivering a great music experience on Dave FM and will take care to ensure the transition goes smoothly. I can't thank the staff at Dave enough for their contributions over the past eight years."
