News WTOP/Washington, D.C. Once Again #1 Billing Station

BIA/Kelsey has released its "Investing In Radio Market Report," finding that Hubbard News WTOP/Washington, D.C. is the #1 revenue producing radio station in the country for the fourth year in a row. WTOP took in $63.5 million in advertising revenues in 2013, as overall industry revenues remained near 2012 levels at $14.8 billion.

"WTOP is morphing into a digital media company by providing access to its audience in many different ways beyond over-the-air," said Mark Fratrik, SVP/Chief Economist for BIA/Kelsey. "Their approach is serving them well and their model demonstrates that as the industry continues to adopt a multi-platform approach, it will engage audiences and sustain growth." 

The top four highest-revenue radio stations appeared in the same list in 2012. CCM+E CHR KIIS/Los Angeles was ranked at #2 with $61.6 million, followed by CCM+E CHR WHTZ (Z100)/New York with $51 million and CBS Radio News WCBS-AM/New York with $50.5 million.

CCM+E AC WLTW/New York moved up from seventh to the fifth spot, with $45 million in billings. CBS Radio's News WINS-AM/New York was ranked sixth, with $45 million. CCM+E Hot AC KBIG/Los Angeles jumped from #13 in 2012 to seventh in 2014, with $44.5 million in revenues. CBS Sports talker WFAN in New York, with $43 million in ad sales, is the only Sports station in the top 10.

CBS Modern Rock mainstay KROQ/Los Angeles was ranked ninth with $42.8 million, as CBS News WBBM/Chicago rounded out the top ten with $42 million.
