First-Ever iHeartRadio Music Award Finalists Announced

­Clear Channel Media and Entertainment and NBC today announced the finalists for the first-ever iHeartRadio Music Awards, which will be handed out on Thursday, May 1 at the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles Music fans used hashtags to cast more than 13.2 million votes across Facebook and Twitter to nominate their favorite artists and songs as category finalists. The event will be televised live on NBC from 8-11 p.m. ET/PT.

Announced last month, the three-hour iHeartRadio Music Awards will recognize the most popular artists and music over the past 12 months as determined by iHeartRadio listeners. Each voting category initially featured 10 nominees based on results from the iHeartRadio Chart which includes listener feedback and performance data according to airplay; digital streaming data from the iHeartRadio platform, including "thumbs up" and custom station creations; and music sales, social interactions, online video data and tags from BigChampagne and Shazam

During the last four weeks, listeners cast their votes to narrow down these nominees to their top five favorites in each category, garnering more than 2.2 billion social impressions.

The finalists for Artist of the Year are Imagine Dragons, Justin TimberlakeMacklemore & Ryan Lewis, Maroon 5 and Rihanna. The Song of the Year finalists are "Hold On We're Going Home" by­ Drake ft. Majid Jordan"Mirrors" by Justin Timberlake, Imagine Dragons' "Radioactive," "Stay" from­ Rihanna ft. Mikky Ekko and "The Monster" by­ Eminem ft. Rihanna,

The Best Collaboration was the most voted on category with more than 3.9 million votes cast, and its finalists are "Holy Grail" by­ Jay Z ft. Justin Timberlake, "Stay" by­ Rihanna ft. Mikky Ekko, Timberlake and Jay Z again with "Suit & Tie," "The Monster" by­ Eminem ft. Rihanna and "Timber" from­ Pitbull ft. Ke$ha.

The finalists for Best New Artist are Florida Georgia LineIcona PopImagine Dragons, Lorde, Macklemore & Ryan Lewis and Passenger. Country Song of the Year finalists are "Boys 'Round Here" ­by Blake Shelton"Highway Don't Care" from­ Tim McGraw with Taylor Swift"It Goes Like This" by­ Thomas Rhett"Mine Would Be You" by­ Blake Shelton and "That's My Kind of Night" from­ Luke Bryan. 

Finalists in the Hip Hop/R&B Song of the Year category are "Blurred Lines" ­by Robin Thicke ft. T.I. & Pharrell"Hold On We're Going Home" ­by Drake ft. Majid Jordan, "Holy Grail" from­ Jay Z ft. Justin Timberlake, "Pour It Up" from­ Rihanna and Drake's "Started From The Bottom." EDM Song of the Year finalists are "Get Lucky" by­ Daft Punk ft. Pharrell, "Stay The Night" from­ Zedd ft. Hayley Williams"Summertime Sadness" from­ Lana Del Rey ft. Cedric Gervais"Sweet Nothing" by­ Calvin Harris ft. Florence Welch and Avicii with "Wake Me Up." 

The finalists for Alternative Rock Song of the Year are "Demons" ­by Imagine Dragons, "Do I Wanna Know?" ­by Arctic Monkeys"Pompeii" ­from Bastille, Lorde's smash hit "Royals" and Capital Cities with "Safe and Sound." In the Best Lyrics category, the finalists are "Wake Me Up" by­ Avicii (vocals by Aloe Blacc), "I Love It (ft. Charli XCX)" by­ Icona Pop"Say Something" by­ A Great Big World"Same Love" from­ Macklemore & Ryan Lewis and Miley Cyrus"Wrecking Ball."

Last but not least, the finalists for Best Fan Army are "Arianators" (Ariana Grande), "Little Monsters" (Lady Gaga), "Lovatics" (Demi Lovato), "Mahomies" (Austin Mahone), "Rihanna Navy" (Rihanna) and "Swifties" (Taylor Swift).

Round Two voting began today at www.iHeartRadio.com/awards and will continue through April 25. Listeners can also tune into their local Clear Channel radio stations for a chance to win their way into the iHeartRadio Music Awards featuring never-before-done duets and collaborations, celebrity guest appearances and live award presentations.
