Quick Hits: Coldplay's Chris Martin, Smashing Pumpkins, Madonna, Summerfest, Elvis Costello, Hozier

Coldplay frontman Chris Martin and wife Gwyneth Paltrow have announced that they're separating after more than 10 years of marriage. The pair have two children together, and they delivered the news in a joint statement posted on Paltrow's GOOP website. "It is with hearts full of sadness that we have decided to separate. We have been working hard for well over a year, some of it together, some of it separated, to see what might have been possible between us, and we have come to the conclusion that while we love each other very much we will remain separate," reads the statement. "We are, however, and always will be a family, and in many ways we are closer than we have ever been. We are parents first and foremost, to two incredibly wonderful children and we ask for their and our space and privacy to be respected at this difficult time. We have always conducted our relationship privately, and we hope that as we consciously uncouple and coparent, we will be able to continue in the same manner."

Smashing Pumpkins

Smashing Pumpkins will release two new albums in 2015. Billy Corgan wrote on the band's website: "Pleased to announce that I've just inked a new record deal with BMG that will see the release of two Smashing Pumpkins albums in 2015; titled successively: Monuments To An Elegy and Day For Night. For those interested in sound, think "guitars, guitars, guitars, and more guitars;" but more so on the epic side of things than say, grossly metallic. Recording sessions begin today, as plenty of songs have been written and ready to go." Corgan added that he expects to have a single out by the end of the year.

Madonna has been tapped to direct Ade: A Love Story, an adaptation of the debut novel by Rebecca Walker, according to the Hollywood Reporter. Walker is the daughter of The Color Purple author Alice Walker and civil rights lawyer Mel Leventhal, and her novel centers on a 19-year-old American student traveling with a feminist companion in Africa who falls in love with a young Muslim man on an island off the coast of Kenya. Their plans to marry get squashed by cultural and political forces. Madonna and the producers are reportedly on the hunt for a screenwriter to adapt the book.

Milwaukee's Summerfest has announced a slew of new headliners, including New Order, Rise Against, Kip Moore, Ray LaMontagne, Joan Jett & the Blackhearts, Nas, Brand New and The Neighbourhood. Previously announced Marcus Amphitheater Headliners include Bruno Mars with special guest Aloe Blacc, Lady Gaga, Brad Paisley with special guests Darius Rucker and Joel Crouse, Outkast with special guest Gary Clark Jr., Dave Matthews Band, Zac Brown Band, Motley Crue with Alice Cooper, and Fall Out Boy and Paramore with New Politics. More will be announced in the coming weeks. Performance dates, times and stage locations as well as additional headliners will be announced shortly.

Elvis Costello has announced 10 new "SOLO" tour dates in the mid-west and mid-south U.S. beginning June 9 in St. Paul, MN. It marks the first time since 1999 (when touring with keyboardist Steve Nieve) that he's headlined the area with such a stripped-down setup. The trek is scheduled through June 21 in Nashville.

Irish musician Hozier will return to the U.S. in May for a series of festival and headlining tour dates. Hozier will start off at the Sweetlife Festival in Maryland on May 10 before embarking on a headlining run starting May 13 in New York City. The road trip will wrap up at the Sasquatch! Festival in Quincy, WA over Memorial Day Weekend.
