Trent Reznor is warning Nine Inch Nails fans that he expects "an epic struggle" with his record label over his upcoming album, due out later this year. According to Blabbermouth.net, Reznor wrote in an online post last week to NIN site The Spiral, "Usually when I finish a record, I have to go into battle with the people whose job it is to figure out how to sell the record. The only time that didn't happen was With Teeth. This time, however, I'm expecting an epic struggle. This is not a particularly friendly record and it certainly doesn't sound like anything else out there right now. Artists these days are not encouraged to experiment or take risks, and my punishment is on its way." He added, "Feeling physically run-down and emotionally insecure at this moment, and baffled as to why I feel the need to share this with you!"Producer extraordinare Timabland is set to release a Rock/Hip-Hop compilation in March, titled Timbaland Presents Shock Value. According to MTV.com, the disc will feature tracks from Fall Out Boy, Dr. Dre, The Hives and 50 Cent, as well as a collaboration between Timba and She Wants Revenge. "I don't think that anybody's heard anything like it," SWR singer Justin Warfield said of their new song. "It's just a true collaboration between the best of what he does and the best of what we do. I think that it goes beyond putting a hyphen in between two musical genres, and it goes beyond radio format and beyond preconceived ideas about style."
Despite going on hiatus after last year's Ozzfest, System Of A Down have not officially broken up... but they still could. In an interview with Kerrang!, singer Serj Tankian tells fans, "I honestly don't know if System of A Down are over or not. I don't know. Maybe in a few years we'll want to make another album. Or maybe we'll want to tour, or maybe we'll want to play a benefit show. It's impossible to tell right now. It'll be later down the line that we'll be able to tell what might happen."
Papa Roach has launched a new contest allowing fans to create a video for their new single, "Forever." P-Roach kick off their 2007 tour in Eugene, OR on January 23.
After singer Steve Augeri left Journey's tour last summer due to illness, Jeff Scott Soto stepped in to take up former frontman Steve Perry's mantle. Now the classic rockers have officially named Soto as the group's new singer. In a statement, the band wishes Augeri the best of luck and says that, "we’ve come to realize that Jeff has proven himself above and beyond that he can sing the hell out of our songs and we’re happy to officially welcome him as part of the family. We’re excited to start a new chapter with Jeff and we’re excited about what the future may bring."

A Joni Mitchell tribute record, simply titled A Tribute To Joni Mitchell, will be released this spring. The disc features contributions from Elvis Costello, Prince, Sarah McLachlan, Sufjan Stevens and James Taylor.
