Despite a third straight week where no album sold over 100,000 copies, The Notorious B.I.G.'s new Greatest Hits collection topped the sales charts, giving the late Rapper his third #1 record. Greatest Hits sold just over 99,000 units, barely 7,000 more than the #2 album from Canadian indie rockers The Arcade Fire. Their sophomore effort, Neon Bible, sold almost 92,000 copies. The band's debut record, Funeral, never charted higher than #131. Also, roughly 30 percent of Neon Bible's sales came from digital retailers.A number of new releases broke into the Soundscan chart this week. Country singer Gary Allan's own Greatest Hits debuted at #5, with Pop Rockers Relient K debuting right behind him at #6 with Five Score And Seven Years Ago. KoRn's MTV Unplugged debuts at #9.
Other notable debuts included Sevendust with Alpha at #14, Finger Eleven's Them Vs. You Vs. Me at #31 and Pocket Symphony from Air at #40.
The top ten was rounded out by Daughtry, Akon, Norah Jones, Fall Out Boy and Robin Thicke.
