B.I.G. Tops Small Music Sales Week
March 14, 2007

The Notorious B.I.G.

Despite a third straight week where no album sold over 100,000 copies, The Notorious B.I.G.'s new Greatest Hits collection topped the sales charts, giving the late Rapper his third #1 record. Greatest Hits sold just over 99,000 units, barely 7,000 more than the #2 album from Canadian indie rockers The Arcade Fire. Their sophomore effort, Neon Bible, sold almost 92,000 copies. The band's debut record, Funeral, never charted higher than #131. Also, roughly 30 percent of Neon Bible's sales came from digital retailers.

A number of new releases broke into the Soundscan chart this week. Country singer Gary Allan's own Greatest Hits debuted at #5, with Pop Rockers Relient K debuting right behind him at #6 with Five Score And Seven Years Ago. KoRn's MTV Unplugged debuts at #9.

Other notable debuts included Sevendust with Alpha at #14, Finger Eleven's Them Vs. You Vs. Me at #31 and Pocket Symphony from Air at #40.

The top ten was rounded out by Daughtry, Akon, Norah Jones, Fall Out Boy and Robin Thicke.
