The lineup for England's giant Reading and Leeds festivals have been announced, with the Red Hot Chili Peppers, Smashing Pumpkins and Razorlight headlining the annual weekend bash. Others acts confirmed to play include Nine Inch Nails, Kings of Leon, Interpol, Arcade Fire, Bloc Party, Panic! At The Disco, Fall Out Boy, Angels And Airwaves, +44, Brand New, Lostprophets, LCD Soundsystem and more, according to NME.com. The three day event will take place between August 24 and 26.
 Red Hot Chili Peppers

Speaking of the Chili Peppers, the band has postponed their shows in Japan because Anthony Kiedis is suffering from bronchial pneumonia. The frontman has been ordered by doctors not to fly for 10 days. The dates, which were supposed to take place this week in Osaka and Tokyo, will likely be rescheduled for the fall. The Peppers are slated to resume their world tour April 7 in Adelaide, Australia.
The first episode of Linkin Park's LPTV has now premiered on YouTube.com/linkinparktv. Episode #1 takes fans on the road with Linkin Park as they trek through the U.S. and Europe on the LP Underground Tour in winter 2003. LPTV will premiere new episodes every Monday and Thursday on YouTube for the next eight weeks, giving fans an inside look at the writing and recording process of the upcoming album, Minutes To Midnight, as well as never before seen footage from the Meteora world tour. The new album is due on May 15.
Chris Cornell will play a handful of U.S. tour dates in support of his upcoming solo album, Carry On, due in stores on June 5. Cornell will dig into his catalog and perform songs from throughout his 13-album career with Soundgarden, Temple of the Dog and Audioslave, as well as premiering tunes from Carry On. The trek begins on April 6 in Las Vegas and wraps on May 2 in Los Angeles.
The biopic about Janis Joplin is currently on hold, according to actress Zooey Deschanel, who will play the singer in the film. Deschanel told MTV News that she's not sure when the film will finally begin shooting, but that Gospel According to Janis will make people focus on Joplin's vibrant personality rather than on her tragic death. "She was so different from anyone who had come before her, and [she] was very smart. She was completely out of the mold," the actress said. "She was very liberated. In a time when she was [viewed as] different, she was not afraid to be who she was. That's refreshing to see."
The Rolling Stones will return to live duty with a June 10 headlining appearance at the Isle of Wight Festival, according to Billboard.com. The Stones have not played a U.K. festival since the Knebworth Fair in 1976. Isle of Wight is expected to be part of a run of make-up dates for shows that were canceled by the Stones in Europe last summer. The festival, which begins on June 8, also will feature Snow Patrol, Muse, Amy Winehouse, Keane, Kasabian, Paolo Nutini, Groove Armada, Wolfmother and more.
 Modest Mouse
|
Modest Mouse have announced an extensive tour behind their new album, We Were Dead Before The Ship Even Sank, which was released today. The new, North American tour begins in Seattle on April 15 and winds up in San Jose on May 16. The band will then visit England and Spain soon after. In other Modest Mouse news, Pitchfork reports that main Mouse Isaac Brock intentionally cut his chest on-stage with a pocket knife at the band's gig in Sioux Falls, SD over the weekend. According to concertgoers, a roadie wrestled with Brock for a moment, who then calmed down and played the rest of the show without incident.
Rage Against the Machine/Nightwatchman guitarist Tom Morello, KoRn singer Jonathan Davis, the Beastie Boys, Henry Rollins and Talib Kweli are contributing their compliments and thoughts to Public Enemy the Brotherhood, a documentary honoring the landmark rap act's 20th anniversary. The DVD, which does not yet have a release date, will include the group's Friday performance at the South by Southwest festival, in addition to other concert highlights, according to MTV.
Bjork has a handful of rare, North American tour dates scheduled for later this year. The eclectic singer will play the Coachella Festival, then three different venues in New York City on May 2, 5 and 8. She will also visit Chicago, Denver, San Francisco and Vancouver, before playing the Sasquatch Festival in Gorge, WA. Bjork will return to North America for the Canadian Virgin Festival in September. Her new album, Volta, will be out on May 8.
