Gorillaz

Is the Gorillaz' cartoon career coming to an end? Damon Albarn told BBC Radio 2 that there will not be any more proper Gorillaz studio albums, and that the fictional quartet's final album will be the soundtrack to the Gorillaz movie. According to various reports, Albarn said, "We're trying to make a film next, starting in September hopefully. It will be a film score. There won't be another pop record. When we made the first Gorillaz record, we had no idea it was going to be a pop record. You don't make records with that in mind. They become that if the public love them."

Neil Young's wife Pegi will be releasing her first-ever solo album on June 12. Pegi has sung backup for her husband for years. The self-titled record is a mix of original material and covers, and was recorded at Neil's home studio. She told Billboard that her husband does play on almost every song on the album. "Leading up to it, I put the band together and we just sort of avoided discussing whether Neil was going to play on it or not," Young said. "He dropped by the first day and kind of listened, and the next day, the guys at the studio had wisely created a little space for him, should he want to participate at all. And then he just ended up playing on everything, all the way through."

Though Nine Inch Nails' Year Zero is now in stores, the mysterious Web sites surrounding the record continue to evolve. Earlier this week, about 50 Los Angeles area NIN fans were gathered for a "private resistance meeting"...and a free mini-concert from the band. According to various fan sites, the group was taken into a warehouse where they were surprised by Trent Reznor and his bandmates and treated to a six-song set. As NIN began a seventh song, a group of "SWAT troops" busted the show and broke it up. And the guerrilla marketing continues...

Ex-Clash member Mick Jones is readying his new musical project, Carbon/Silicon, for their first release. The collaboration between Jones and Tony James (Generation X, Sigue Sigue Sputnik) have put a number of MP3s up online, but will release a proper EP in the U.K. on May 28, entitled The News.

Hilary Duff

Hilary Duff will be the featured Artist of the Month for May on Music Choice. The channel will feature programming on Duff throughout the month. Her new album, Dignity, was released earlier this month.

The Decemberists will play a handful of dates this summer backed by a full orchestra. The band's shows in Los Angeles; Atlanta; Columbia, MD; Philadelphia and Chicago will all feature local symphonies. The Decemberists will play sans orchestra at Bonnaroo, and in New York City and Portland, OR in July as well.

AOL Music has named its "21 Under 21" list of music acts who will make an impact in the next year. 19-year-old Rihanna tops the list, followed by Hannah Montana star Miley Cyrus, R&B singer Chris Brown, ex-American Idol contestant Kellie Pickler and the aforementioned Hilary Duff. Also featured are Bow Wow, Joss Stone, the members of Panic! At The Disco and Paulo Nutini.

MTV News reports Tool singer Maynard James Keenan is close to finishing the first album by his side project Pucifer, and could release it this fall. The record is expected to feature appearances by Rage Against The Machine rhythm section Tim Commerford and Brad Wilk and Primus drummer Tim "Herb" Alexander.
