Liberty Media's steady march towards a majority stake in SiriusXM Satellite Radio continues, as the investment company has increased its ownership share in the satcaster yet again. Liberty increased its stake from 48.8 percent to 49.2 percent, according to a new regulatory filing. Liberty purchased another 25 million shares of SiriusXM at $2.52/each in a $63 million transaction, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Just last week, Liberty added another 40 million shares of SiriusXM.
Also last week, SiriusXM CEO Mel Karmazin announced he would be selling off another 30 million shares of the satcaster, as he continues to divest his options in the company. In recent months, Karmazin has already sold off approximately 60 million shares.
