Pandora has released the latest round of audience data from the digital music service's own metrics. According to Pandora, in October its listener hours were 1.25 billion, an increase of 65 percent from 754 million during the same month last year. Its share of total U.S. radio listening in October was 6.55 percent, an increase from 4.27 percent in October 2011. Active listeners were 59.2 million at the end of October, an increase of 47 percent from 40.3 million during October last year.
The company notes that because it calculates radio market share using a seven-day trailing period as of the end of the month, this figure was temporarily suppressed by the effect of Hurricane Sandy. As of October 24, 2012, the company's market share was 6.75 percent.
