Quick Hits: Lil Wayne, Mariah Carey, Britney Spears, Wale, The Civil Wars, O.A.R.
November 7, 2012

Lil Wayne
Lil Wayne's I Am Not a Human Being 2 album has been pushed back from its December 11 release date. The album is now expected sometime in 2013. It's unclear if the delay is due to Weezy's recent health scare. He was hospitalized several weeks ago, and his rep then released a statement saying: "Lil Wayne was successfully released from the hospital after being treated for a severe migraine and dehydration. He is at home on doctor-mandated rest and will return to work soon. He appreciates all of his fans for their support and love."

Following the victory of President Barack Obama, Mariah Carey released a celebratory song called "Bring It On Home." The song premiered on www.Global14.com, producer Jermaine Dupri's website. Carey first performed the Gospel-tinged track at a campaign event earlier this year.

Britney Spears is definitely returning to The X Factor next season, the singer told interviewers at a red carpet event for the show. After Spears said that it is "fun" and "wonderful" being a part of the show, she was asked if she would be back next season. "Yes, I definitely will," Spears replied.

Rapper Wale is recording again, and he hopes to release his third album in February. Wale says the new work will harken back to his earlier, more experimental days. "It probably sounds the most like 100 Miles & Running and a little bit of Attention Deficit," he told MTV News. "I just wanna show range. I've proven a lot to my peers and to myself and to my fans, so I just want to take it back to something a little bit more exciting, when the music was most exciting to me."

There is disharmony in the Civil Wars camp, as the duo has canceled their upcoming tour. However, in a message posted on Facebook, the band said they still hope to release new music next year. "We sincerely apologize for the canceling of all of our tour dates. It is something we deeply regret," reads the post. "However, due to internal discord and irreconcilable differences of ambition we are unable to continue as a touring entity at this time. We thank each and every one of you for your amazing love & support. Our sincere hope is to have new music for you in 2013."

On November 19, O.A.R. will release Live on Red Rocks, a DVD and CD documenting its concert at Colorado's Red Rocks Amphitheatre on July 15, 2012. The DVD also features Standing on a Burning Hot Sun, a 40-minute documentary of the band's 2012 Summer Crush tour, which includes the previously unreleased track "Inside Out."
