A star-studded lineup has been revealed for the 12.12.12 benefit concert for Hurricane Sandy Relief, which is scheduled for December 12 at New York's Madison Square Garden. Paul McCartney, Kanye West, Bruce Springsteen & The E Street Band, The Who, Roger Waters, Alicia Keys, Jon Bon Jovi and Billy Joel will top the lineup, with more artists to be announced. Proceeds from the concert will benefit the Robin Hood Relief Fund, which is providing money and materials to tri-state organizations helping those affected by the storm. Ticket information will be announced in the coming days via www.121212concert.org
12.12.12 is a collaborative effort between Clear Channel Media, the Madison Square Garden Company and the Weinstein Company, which also came together for The Concert for New York City in the wake of the 9/11 attacks. The upcoming event will receive a television broadcast, but details have yet to be announced.
The concert will be "a showcase of music royalty," said organizers James Dolan, John Sykes and Harvey Weinstein in a statement. "The response from the entertainment community to help those most affected by Hurricane Sandy has been nothing short of astounding. We expect to announce additional legendary performers in the near future and we are confident that the event will ensure those in need will not be forgotten, and vital aid will be directed to rebuilding our communities along the East Coast."
