Live Nation's Annual Loss Increased In 2012
February 27, 2013

Live Nation Entertainment has reported its fiscal results for the fourth quarter and full year 2012. The company saw an increased annual loss last year, growing from $83 million in 2011 to $163.2 million. The greater loss was attributed to a $5.5 million charge related to the exit of Irving Azoff at the end of 2012, as well as a one-time $62.7 million charge in Q4 to the Artist Nation division. This charge was related to "certain client/vendor relationship intangibles" based on expectations of the division's future cash flow, and taken to bring the division's profitability in line with its current value.

For the full year, revenue grew by 8.1 percent to $5.8 billion. Adjusted operating income was up 4.8 percent to $459 million in 2012. Concert division revenue was up 10.4 percent last year to $3.87 billion. While the total number of North American concerts declined by 3.7 percent in 2012, total attendance was up by three percent, to 32 million people. Ticketmaster's revenue grew by 4.1 percent to $1.37 billion in 2012.
