Jason Iley Named CEO Of Sony Music Entertainment UK & Ireland
April 4, 2014

Jason Iley has been named Chairman/CEO for Sony Music UK & Ireland. The announcement was made by Doug Morris, CEO of Sony Music Entertainment. In this role he will oversee all of Sony Music’s frontline labels in the region including Columbia UK, Epic Records UK and RCA Label Group UK. Iley will be based in London and reports directly to Morris, as well as Edgar Berger, Chairman/CEO, International, Sony Music Entertainment.

Said Morris, "Jason has played a critical role in developing global hits for some of the biggest artists in the industry over the last decade. We couldn’t be happier to have him leading our team in the UK."

Said Iley, "I am delighted to be given this opportunity to lead the UK company under Doug Morris. I look forward to working with some of the best artists in the world and the extraordinary team of executives at Sony Music. Having started my career in music at Sony Music, I feel like I’m coming home. I’d also like to say a huge thank you to Jay Z, who has been an inspiration to work with at Roc Nation.”

Iley was previously President of Jay Z’s Roc Nation Records. Prior to that, he was President of Mercury Records, the culmination of a 15 year career at Universal Music UK, where he worked across all three frontline labels including Polydor and Island. Iley’s music business career started at Sony Music in 1994 when he joined the company as a product manager from design agency Blue Source.
