Susan Mazo Named SVP, Global Communication for Universal Music Group

Universal Music Group (UMG) announces the appointment of Susan Mazo as Senior Vice President of Global Communications, effective immediately. Mazo’s responsibilities include the company’s global philanthropic efforts, major internal and external events, and special projects, as well as supporting UMG’s media relations efforts. Mazo will report to UMG’s Executive Vice President and Head of Global Communications, Will Tanous, and will be based in the company’s New York office.

In making the announcement, Tanous said, “Susan is one of the most talented and progressive communications executives with whom I’ve ever worked, and I’m thrilled to welcome her to UMG. Her creativity, focus and passion for helping artists and the communities in which we operate has made her one of the most thoughtful and impactful executives in music, and I’m confident she will bring tremendous value to helping shape UMG’s communications strategy and leading our philanthropic efforts going forward.”

Prior to UMG, Mazo served as SVP of Communications and Marketing at Warner Music Group (WMG). During her tenure at WMG, Mazo led WMG’s philanthropic efforts such as developing community outreach programs and helping to raise millions of dollars in disaster relief aid for partners including Habitat for Humanity and the Red Cross. Mazo also produced numerous world-wide conferences as well as high-profile events for the company surrounding award shows, music and technology conferences, the company’s IPO, among many others. In addition, Mazo was a key member of the executive team responsible for global branding and corporate identity initiatives.
