Last week, Lorde released her new single "Green Light" and announced that her new record will be called Melodrama. Now the singer's sophomore record has a release date. Melodrama will arrive on June 16.
To celebrate the announcement, Lorde returned to Zane Lowe's Beats 1 show to debut another new track, titled "Liability." Discussing the quieter piano track, she said the song was inspired by hearing Rihanna's "Higher" while riding in a cab. "I had a little cry and I was just like 'It's always going to be this way, at some point with everyone it's going to be this way,'" she told Lowe. "But the song kind of ended up turning into a bit of a protective talismans for me. I was like, you know what, I'm always gonna have myself so I have to really nurture this relationship and feel good about hanging out with myself and loving myself."
Lorde is the musical guest on Saturday Night Live tomorrow night.
